We are very pleased to announce new dates for the 2024 Kyhv RUFA. Several avalanches impacted the Rock Canyon trail this winter and spring, but we are very excited to offer RUFA Kyhv Peak with safer (and warmer) conditions! The Up for Air Series is a collection of endurance events created to amplify informed dialogue and empower organizations actively working on air quality solutions. Proceeds from Up for Air events are directed at carefully selected non-profit groups who demonstrate high value influence strategies. The race platform is used to expose participants and the general public to science-based material about the importance of healthy air. All events are conducted with a minimal footprint philosophy. We have several race options for RUFA – Kyhv Peak in 2024 The events will be the same as in 2023, that is one 24-hour event, one 12-hour event, three 6-hour events and three 3-hour events. The Friday Night Date Night” 6-hour event will continue as well as the team events. There will be a FOUR person team or TWO person team option for the 24 hour race. Or, you can get a team of TWO together and do the 12 hour time period. The start times of the events have been consolidated to foster carpooling and simplify things a bit. New Peak and Event Name! Squaw Peak was officially renamed Kyhv Peak on September 8, 2022 by the US Department of Interior. The word Kyhv comes from the Ute word meaning mountain. Kyhv is pronounced like hive” but with a K” sound. The event organizers support renaming of the peak. The course is 100% the same as in prior years and will include the summit of Kyhv Peak (elevation 7,862).
